As from 12 September 2016 the medium wave transmitter at Croce Bianca di Pirano (Beli Kriz, Piran, Istria) wil be submitted at some planned maintanance works, including shortening the antenna mast. Both Italian (1170 kHz
) and Slovenian (549 kHz) frequencies will remain off air for about 4 weeks.
Works should end by 30 September to allow final checks in the following to weeks and reactivate the site on 15 October. According to the station, a limited FM and TV service will be operational during the works. The MW antenna mast will be shortened to reduce maintainance costs and preserve its very appreciated service in the multilingual area between Italy and Slovenia.
Croce Bianca (Beli Kriz in Slovenian, photo) is a splendid hill over the histortical town of Pirano (Piran in Slovenian) overlooking the Adriatic Sea, a exceptional location for a MW transmitter.
