Danish SW Club International bids farewell

Picture 0 for Danish SW Club International bids farewell
On 8 October, the Danish Shortwave Club International (DSWCI) a most respected 60 years old institution in dxing community held its latest general assembly in Kalundborg, Denmark. By the end of the year the club will gallantly end its activities.
At their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 9 May, 2015 the Club decided the dissolution of the DSWCI by the end of December 2016. Motivations were:
"1. We are close to the end of shortwave broadcasting.
2. Less time for Club work by our ageing Board members.
3. No younger members available as substitutes.
4. We intend to celebrate our 60th anniversary, before we dissolve the DSWCI. Our Club was formed on November 18, 1956."
97% of the members at the AGM voted YES for this dissolution.
The Board has decided that the capital, which the DSWCI has saved up during the years shall go back to the members in form of some free SWNs after the paid annual fee of each member runs out, instead of donating the total capital to a Radio Museum or to charitable purposes.
A small issue of SWN, including 4 pages in colours, will be posted on October 21, 2016. The electronic version will be published some day later on http://www.dswci.org/members/index.html
On the group photo most of the 39 participants. Among them, No. 3 from right is Victor Goonetilleke from Sri Lanka and No. 2 from left is Jawahar Almeida from India. Kalundborg church with 5 towers is in the background.
Italradio honours the incredible work on radio listening the Danish Short Wave Club International has done during 60 years and the exceptional contribution to our favourite hobby. Thank you DSWCI, an experience we'll never forget!
