Radio Tirana still off, awaiting for a new Feeder Line

According to "Top News" (16 Sept. 2011, www.wwdxc.de) works are still going on at Radio Tirana to build a new feeder network from broadcasting

house control room to transmitter sites Shijak (short wave) and Fllake (medium wave). Italian, English programmes only available via the Internet.

Short and Medium wave outlets of Radio Tirana, Albania, seems to be totally silenced. Both Italian and English programmes are missing since at least a couple of weeks and German also deseappered from MW 1458 kHz.

According to Spanish Radiolisteners' Association monthly review "El Dial" (September 2011) a formal bid to declare International Radio Broadcasting as a part of World Intangible Heritage has been deposited on 23 Augost at UNESCO Regionale Office at San José de Costa Rica. The initiative has been taken by Berny Solano Solano, a jurist and listener of Radio Netherlands, following sharp cuts announced for the Dutch broadcasting station.

Notturno Italiano, English seeked

Night English news during "Notturno Italiano" seem to have been at least temporarly suspended as only short newscasts about Italian immigrates are broadcast in Italian and French at planned times.

Italian Waves over Europe

Listeners travelling in Central Europe reported, special to Italradio, about those many opportunities to get Italian programmes outside Italy. Vatican Radio, the Voice of Russia, local broadcasts in Switzerland and Germany as long as MW directly from Italy offer a wide choice to hear a Italian voice.

RAE to stay on Short Wave

According to the English programme of Radio Argentina al Exterior the station will continue to broadcast on shortwave in 2011. Yesterday a DXLD mailing list report announced RAE was likely to be authorized to buy a new transmitter to substitute the older one still in use.

Voice of Russia to use Swiss Medium Waves?

Swiss medium wave transmitters could be used by the Voice of Russia in a effort for a better coverage of Central and Southern Europe. With the closing down of the latter transmitter in Sottens on 5 December, all three outlets are available for further activities.

As from 15 November, RAI medium wave transmitter in Trieste (North-East Italy) will be silent for about a month, due to works on the antennas.

RAE Argentina: Shortwave at Risk

Argentinian shortwave outlet in General Pacheco may need important repair in a near future. Due to financial problems the station may not be able to afford the works and the only Argentinian shortwave trasmitter could be silenced, listeners report.

RAI Medium Wave transmitter in Trieste (819 kHz) is temporarly out of air.

Maintanance works are under way but fears are arising about the future of the station (relaying Radio 1 and local broadcasts). A change of frequency also possible.

Turin RAI medium wave transmitter switched to 999 kHz on 3 May. On 4 May, Turin station was broadcasting again on 1062 kHz.

Web links to Chile were unaccessible as readers from all over the world tried to connect the earthquake hit country on Saturday 27 February 2010. Also some radio stations in central Chile were silenced in the first hours after the quake.

Fire at Madagascar Relay Station

Radio Netherlands Worldwide reports about a fire in the high voltage room of the external mains power supply at their relay station in Madagascar. According to the station firefighters from the Madagascan capital Antananarivo managed to bring the blaze under control within hours. Due to damages the station has suspended for at least three days services to large parts of Africa and Southeast Asia. No details have been given about Vatican Radio broadcasts relayed to Africa from Madagascar.

According to the BCLNews blog, the frequency of RAI Medium Wave transmitter in Turin (N/W Italy) will be changed again leading to an improvement of listening quality in a densely populated area.

Former Swiss MW station in Ticino has been chosen for an experimental propagation measuring test carried out by ERF (Europäische Funk-Rundsteuerung GmbH) a German company operating in the Ripple control of electricity supply.

As from 15 October Rete Tre (Italian Swiss Radio programme for young people) and World Radio Switzerland (WRS, English language channel) coverage are extended to main towns in North and Central Switzerland including Zurich, Basel and Berne on the DAB Plus network.

RAI Medium Wave transmitter in Turin (657 kHz) has been removed earlier today and substituted by a lower powered one. A new transmitter will be operative in a near future.
