Radio Capodistria Medium Wave under Maintanance

Medium wave service from Radio Capodistria (Italian Programme 1170 kHz) is suspended as from today 8 May 2018 until 15 hours UTC on Friday 10 May 2018. Maintanance works are under way at Croce Bianca transmitter.

Italradio apologize to all readers for any inconvenience about a broadcast from St. Peter's Basilica not aired earlier today, 10 April 2018 from Vatican Radio, we reported as existing. Vatican Radio has officially denied the broadcast was scheduled. Italradio however read the information on the radio web site on Sunday and reported about it.

A further special broadcast from St. Peter's Basilica is scheduled by Vatican Radio on Tuesday 10 April 2018 airing live the Holy Mass the Pope will celebrate with the Missionaries of Mercy, holding in Rome their annual meeting. Two frequencies involved, both in the 19 meters band. English commentary included, live at 09.55 UTC.

Ukrainian lithurgies on Easter week under Julian calendar will be broadcast on 5 and 7 April by Vatican Radio. Shortwave, 25 and 31 metres band, beamed to Eastern Europe.

No further cuts: Shortwaves in the Italian Language enter A-18

For the first time in many years, A-18 season's schedules do not show futher cuts on Italian language broadcasts both on Medium and Short Wave. Egypt, Tunisia, China, Iran, Turkey, Romania, the Vatican, AWR, Argentina all have confirmed their broadcasts. Full details.

On 1st December 2016, just a few days befor Christmas, Vatican Radio would leave both Medium Wave frequencies now covering Rome and neighboring region on 585 and 1260 kHz, Italradio is informed. Both Italian and foreign languages affected. FM and DAB covering unsufficient to substitute MW.

Radio Capodistria Medium Wave Back on the Air

Renovation works at the antenna in Croce Bianca by Pirano (Beli Kriz, Piran, North Western Istria) are very near to their end and the MW frequency 1170 kHz has been reactivated on 14 November. Listeners positively report. The station has confirmed.

Italian programme from Radio Tunis Chaine Internationale (RTCI) has been re-timed to 15.03 UTC following a new autumn-winter 2016-2017 schedule. A mainly French speaking channel RTC offers 4 more programmes in foreign languages, including Italian, German, English and Spanish on 963 kHz medium wave.

Radio Tirana Italian programme is back on 7465 kHz at 17.00 UTC (19 hours in Italy). Planned schedule for the new season starting on 30 October is confirming the frequency, also used by French, English and German broadcasts to Europe. Time to be shifted one hour ahead.

Italradio confirm Radio Tirana now operating to Europe on 7475 kHz, previously 7465 kHz, in Italian, French, German and English. Listeners noticed tests on the new frequency last week. On 29 August the new frequency, correcting some noises monitored on the previous one, is regularly operating.

A special DRM broadcast from Vatican Radio in scheduled 22-24 August 2016 during the HFCC Conference in Miami. Broadcast is scheduled at 19.30 UTC beamed to Miami, where engineers, frequency managers from International radio stations in around 30 countries meet for a week to coordinate shortwave frequency schedules in the incoming season (Oct 2016 - Mar 2017).

No more short waves fort two of the most followed lithurgical broadcasts of Vatican Radio. As from 1 August 2016, Latin Mass at 05:30 UTC and Rosary prayer at 18:40 UTC will be broadcast on the usual frequencies only on Sundays and catholic holy days. No motivation is until now available.

Listeners report Turin 999 kHz medium wave transmitter not switching to tv audio when other transmitters do. Under existing regulations some tv programmes are also available with descriptions to help video impaired people to follow movies and telefilms with the aid of radio. Turin doesn't follow, a exception to be explained.

Easter celebrations with Pope Francis will be broadcast live from St. Peter's in Rome on Vatican Radio short waves to Africa and Asia. Daytime frequencies on 21 MHz band. Full coverage starting on Saturday 26 March at 19.25 UTC through Sunday morning (7.55-10.30 UTC) to the Regina Coeli prayer on Monday 28 March.

On Sunday evening, 19.30 UTC a new English broadcast will be aired to Western Africa from Radio Japan (NHK World). The transmitting site is also new for NHK: Santa Maria di Galeria, Vatican City State, in central Italy. Shortwave are still alive.

On 27 March 2016 short wave schedules will change to the new operational timings and frequencies as Europe will switch to the Daylight Saving Time, UTC+ 2 hours in Italy and most of Central and Western Europe. 8 Italian speaking stations are adapting their schedules, 27 frequencies affected.

After Radio Romania, the Voice of Turkey and Radio Fiume (Rijeka) a 4th Italian International broadcast is now on th air at 15.00 UTC. Radio Tunis Chaine Internationale (963 kHz) modified its schedule as from 4 January 2016 shifting Italian one hour ahead to host their German programme at 14.00 UTC.

2 Italian Short Newscasts from the Voice of Greece

Two Italian short newscasts are now included within the foreign language schedule of the Voice of Greece, listeners confirm. After the station resumed shortwave broadcasts following some days of silence, Italian seems to have left 12.00 UTC to earlier timings at 07.50 and 09.05 UTC.
