Radio Capodistria 24 hours daily in Italian

Radio Capodistria, the Italian language station serving Italian communities in Slovenia and Croatia, will extend broadcasts 24 hours daily. As from 1 January 2013 Italian programmes will cover also nightly hours, from midnight to 6 a.m. CET. A new opportunity to listent to Italian broadcasts on Medium Wave (1170 kHz).

On 12, 13, 14 April Vatican Radio will broadcast live three lithurgies in Ukrainian, Armenian and Russian to celebrate Easter according to the Julian Calendar. All broadcasts at 07.30 UTC.

From 10 April to 4 May a series of special broadcasts are scheduled on Rai Radio 1 FM and MW frequencies throughout Italy. Parties and candidates campaigning for local elections on 6-7 May 2012 will have their opportunity to talk to voters at 21.05-21.57 UTC. Medium wave listeners can tune in and identify RAI regional stations.

The oldest Italian radio broadcast "Notturno Italiano" (23.30-05.00 UTC, 657, 900, 1107 kHz) ended last night after RAI, the Italian public broadcaster, decided to stop international programmes.

Notturno Italiano to switch from Naples to Pisa?

"Notturno Italiano" - the oldest still aired broadcast from Italy - may change one of its transmitters. Naples medium wave (657 kHz) should be closed ina very near future. Pisa (also on 657 kHz) will join the "Notturno" and give a new chance to listeners in Southern Europe.

On Thursday 27 October 2011, Pope Benedict XVI will travel by train to Assisi on the path of his predecessor John Paul II, ten years after the day of prayer for peace and dialogue. Vatican Radio will cover the event as from 08.00 UTC on short wave, multilingual commentary available on diffent frequencies.

"European Perspective" has found a new host. As from 19 June the monthly report in English from Italradio newsdesk will be included in AWR-WRMI "Wavescan" on the third week each month.

DX Partyline to end at 50

DX Partyline comes to its end on May 28-29, 2011. The show first aired

on May 29, 1961, which means that it will celebrate 50 years on the air.

Unfortunately HCJB staff found it was the appropriate time to bring the programme to an end after a long and rich history. A last feature from Italradio will be included on May 21-22, 2011 edition.

DX Partyline is aired on Saturdays at 0800 UTC to South pacific on 11750 kHz, to East Asia at 1230 UTC on 15400 kHz and to South Asia at 1515 UTC on 15340 kHz.
