DX Partyline's European Perspective now on Italradio Webradio

On today's 19 September 2010 edition, the experimental Italradio webradio channel will include our English language monthly feature "European Perspective". News from the European radio scene have been produced in co-operation with HCJB DX Partyline since 2007 and broadcast all over the world by the Voice of the Andes.

On 28 August, Vatican Radio will relay as a special broadcast from the Chapel of the Annunciation of Palazzo Pio in Rome the liturgy in the Byzantine-Ukrainian rite for the Feast of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary according to the Julian calendar.

On Thursday 11 February 2010, Vatican Radio will broadcast from St. Peter's Basilica the Eucharistic Celebration for the Sick with the Holy Father Benedict XVI. Live broadcast on short and medium wave from 09.20 UTC with multilingual commentary.

Frankfurt Medium Waves Closed Down with Multilingual Programmes

As from 1 January 2010 Hessischer Rundfunk - the regional public broadcaster from Frankfurt, Germany - has closed down all Medium Wave transmitters as a part of a 64 Million Euro cuts programme to be achieved by 2012. Foreign language broadcasts, including Italian, have been dropped off.

Vatican Radio: Pope's Celebration for World Peace Day

A special live broadcast is scheduled by Vatican Radio for 1 January 2010 to cover the celebration the World Peace Day under the theme "If you want to cultivate peace, protect creation". In his message for the Day Benedict XVI underlines "the media also have a responsibility in this regard to offer positive and inspiring models".

DDH47 marking Nobel Prize Centenary

On 10 December 1909 Prof. Ferdinand Braun and Guglielmo Marconi received Nobel Prize for Physics in Stockholm. On the Centenary Day (9-10 December 2009) a special transmission will be made by DDH47, a longwave station operated by the German Meteorogical Service.

Cross Border Journalism, Italradio at the AEJ Congress

Italradio produced earlier this year a programme about cross-border journalism as a part of our co-operation with Radio Capodistria and the European Journalists Association (AEJ). At today's session of the AEJ Congress in Maastricht (The Netherlands) the programme will be presented along with other productions from all over Europe about Cross-Border Co-operation in Europe.

RAI Broadcasts on the Worldwide Virtual Network

Italradio Worldwide Virtual Network has been granted the opportunity to relay some RAI home services programme.

As from 29 March 2009 Italradio will increase the offer of Italian speaking broadcasts as a part of its experimental virtual network including news and features from RAI Radio 1, Radio 2 and Radio 3.

Listeners noticed Radio Maria, a religious (Roman Catholic) broadcaster based in Italy, in Italian on the medium wave from Monte-Carlo on 1467 kHz. Tests are reported to be re-broadcasts by Radio Maria (France) a French member of the Radio Maria family in the world.

Funkhaus Europa arriving in Berlin

Starting 1 January 2009, Funkhaus Europa, the multilingual radio channel from Cologne public radio WDR and Radio Bremen, will be broadcast live in Berlin and Brandenburg. Funkhaus Europa will use frequencies of RBB Radio Multikulti, closing down on 31 December 2008, due to financial cuts.

Sole Swiss Italian MW Transmitter Closing Down

The Swiss Radio Italian speaking channel RTSI (Radiotelevisione Svizzera di Lingua Italiana) announced its MW station will be discontinued within a few days. The Federal Council (Government) authorized RTSI to stop broadcasts on 558 kHz judging medium waves as "an obsolete technology".

Medium wave broadcast played a significant role in Northern Italy where they were audible in a vast area now out of reach from FM and digital services.

Berlin: Radio Multikulti to Stop on 31 December

As from 1 Jan 2009 RBB Radio Multikulti (Berlin 96.30 MHz) will end its operations. Transmitters will relay Funkhauseuropa, also a multilingual programme from WDR in Cologne, also including a Italian broadcast.
