The 3rd Italian Marconian Stations meeting will be hosted in Pisa, 24-25 September, local Italian Radioamateurs' Association (ARI) group operating station IY5PIS at Coltano, the site of a today destroyed TSF station built by Guglielmo Marconi in the early years of 20th century. The station will be operating during the meeting also joined by the annual convention of Mediterraneo DX Club.

The first meeting of the International Broadcasting Assembly (IBA) formed at the last EBU General Assembly, will be held in Paris, 19-21 May 2015. IBA will discuss cyber attacks, digital radio, Europe’s refugee crisis. The EBU Media Intelligence Service will also present the results of its survey about international broadcasting.

Spain: A Prize for Defending Short Wave Service

Spanish "Plataforma en Defensa de la Onda Corta de REE" will be awarded with Voces del Mar Prize (Voices of the Sea) in Vigo, Spain on 26 February 2016. The "Plataforma" - a informal group defending Spanish short wave service - succeeded in re-opening Radio Exterior short wave services after a sudden closing down last year. Italradio also takes part in the group as a lively example for Italian speaking international broadcasting.

In the framework of the "Open Day" event, to be held on February 13, 2014, in coincidence with the World Radio Day, the faculty staff of the graduate program in Telecommunications Engineering will provide its contribution to celebrations by setting up practical demonstrations of radio transmissions.




Malta to host Italian RTV Community Conference 2014

Malta recently took part in the annual conference of Italian Speaking RTV Community in Turin and offered to host the meeting next year. Following the meeting San Marino RTV and Malta PBS have signed an agreement to help co-operation among European micro-states in the frame of European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

World Radio Day 2013 in Florence

On 14 February, the day after the World Radio Day 2013, Italradio, in co-operation with Rotary Club Firenze Est, will activate a temporary very low power medium wave station to show the most easy way to access communications.




Marconi Memories in Pisa, a Exhibition at the State Archive

A new opportunity for tourists in Pisa. After visiting the famous leaning tower a short walk to the Arno sides leads to the State Archive where documents are now exhibited to explain the early years (1904-1918) of the Coltano trans-continental station built by Marconi over a hundred years ago.

A Monument to Marconi in Coleford, Wales

On Wednesday 11 August, Coleford (Wales) "Festival of Words" hosts a conference of Ms Laura Porciani, the daughter of a Italian PoW who designed a monument to Marconi in the nearby Wynol's Hill during WW II.
