Vatican Radio shortwave live broadcasts from St Peter's Square in Rome will cover Pope Francis' celebration on Easter night and on Sunday, 31 March - 1 April 2018. English commentary included.

European Broadcasting Union (EBU) attended a public consultation on the future of Italian public service media (PSM) held in Rome on 12 April in preparation for renewing RAI's Charter. The consultation included 140 stakeholders expressing their recommendations according to a law passed in late 2015 by Italian Parliament.

Father Federico Lombardi is to bid farewell to Vatican Radio at the end of February. Vatican Radio reports he will stay as Director of the Press Office of the Holy See. Fr. Italian press reported about possible sales of two RAI historical sites. The tallest former MW station in Caltanissetta (Sicily) is to be acquired by local authorities to be preserved as a part of city skyline. In Florence RAI would sell the building hosting radio-tv studios to transfer operations in a smaller one.
Earlier today 7 November 2013 police interrupted the activity of Greek radio and tv ERT employees four months after the public broadcaster was closed down. Broadcasts have been continued through the Internet and a few transmitters. Some could be active yet, including at least one frequency on short wave. Radio Netherlands Worldwide reports about a fire in the high voltage room of the external mains power supply at their relay station in Madagascar. According to the station firefighters from the Madagascan capital Antananarivo managed to bring the blaze under control within hours. Due to damages the station has suspended for at least three days services to large parts of Africa and Southeast Asia. No details have been given about Vatican Radio broadcasts relayed to Africa from Madagascar.
