Radio Romania to reduce programmes. Portuguese firstly affected.

According to Marian Stoican, editor-in-chief of Radio Romania International, will close their Portuguese service in April due to

financial and technical problems.

The mailing list BCL-ITA published an information about a special transmission from the Italian station IRRS-Shortwave on Feb. 8th, 2004. The station will test two new frequencies to Africa.

New Investigation about VOM in Malta.

New investigation about Voice of Mediterranean announced in Malta a month after the station closed operations.

VOM used to broadcast in six languages and was a joint-venture of Malta and Lybia governement. A political row in Malta followed the decision of Lybia to leave the station. North African partner apparently owed to the station about 2.5 Million Euro.

Radio Serbia and Montenegro announced the issue of a special QSL card marking their anniversary on March 8th. The QSL will be available as from February 10th.

Voice of Mediterranean closed down on Dec. 31st

The Voice of the Mediterranean went on air for the last time yesterday and its 13 employees have received termination letters. Maltese press confirms the end of the station set up 20 years ago by Lybia and Malta and broadcasting among other languages also in Italian and English.

An inquiry into the operation of Voice of the Mediterranean Radio - ordered by Maltese Foreign Minister Joe Borg - has cleared the managing director, Richard Muscat from any wrong doing, Maltese press reports.

In a short message on their website VOM announced the suddenly closing down of their web channel "VOMi" as from Nov. 28th.

Broadcasts on SW are continuing only until Dec. 31st, 2003. But in a declaration to Maltese press FM Dr Joe Borg...

Maltese press reports Voice of the Mediterranean to close down on December 31 after the Libyan government informed Malta that "it no longer sees a function for this kind of station".

The station management confirmed the news.
